To create a music video with two ancillary tasks; a digipack and magazine advert for a new artiste.

This unit was definitely more challenging than the AS coursework. It required more commitment to the storyboarding and planning stages because of the longer duration of a music video compared with creating a music magazine cover, contents page and double page spread in year 12. It also demanded much more creativity and consideration of generic conventions in order to construct a successful media product, comparable to the real ones on the market. My greater awareness of camera techniques this year allowed me to film more effective and creative footage. I also kept generic conventions of Indie pop in mind, when creating the storyboard and thinking about the plot of my music video. Overall it has been a challenging but enjoyable project, I’ve really enjoyed working with my group and I’m really happy with all three products.

How did you use media technologies in the construction and research, planning and evaluation stages?

We also decided to post our music video onto Facebook where we got our friends to give us their feedback of our music video. We felt this was a suitable method of getting feedback, especially that Facebook is such a popular social networking site, it meant that lots of people could give us feedback quickly and easily. Above are some screen shots of some of the responses.

Evaluation Q3

We got both males and females to watch our music video some of which were our target audience where we asked people to give us feedback using the questionnaire’s we had asked people to fill after watching our music video. It was mostly student’s aged 16-18, so we couldn’t get the cross section of our audience we would’ve wanted. However, we still got lots of useful feedback, with clear trends in the results.

Favourite parts: The bright colours, the location, the props used, pancake scene, the ending scene using the Scrabble pieces

 

What could be improved?:

Add scenes in the garden, or on the streets and wanted to see more of the male character

               Think the colours are complimenting and warm

People also commented on the overall styling of all three products, and agree that they all work well together and all look professional and realstic. However, some people had said they would of liked to see another photo on the promotional poster.
